Taste for Health - Smoothie

It is important to keep your body fueled at all times when trying to eat healthy. However, eating healthy does not mean going hungry. During this Taste for Health demonstration we made a spinach pineapple smoothie. The spinach contains vitamins and minerals that your body needs to stay fueled for the day, as well as fiber to keep your tummy happy. The pineapple is rich in enzymes and the added ginger adds a spicy flavor and is good for digestion. This smoothie is easy to make and great for starting the day right.

Spinach Pineapple Smoothie
(Makes 2 servings)
1 banana
1 cup spinach
1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1½ cups frozen pineapple
½ lemon, juiced

Add spinach and milk into blender and blend until you have a uniform mixture.
Add in ginger, mango, pineapple, and lemon juice and blend until smooth (about 45 seconds).
Note: If using fresh fruit instead of frozen, reduce the almond milk amount to 1 cup and slowly add more to make your preferred thickness. Or, add 3-4 ice cubes before blending.
